Police Investigating Disappearance of Teen in Independence

"Amara did make it home from the concert and then was picked up by an unknown person," the release said. "He hasn't been heard from or seen again."

Amara's nickname is Pooder or Pooter. He is reportedly very close with his mother and friends. The family said they have no leads at this time.

Hmm now they changed the flyer to say that the concert was on November 28 instead of the day he went missing? Originally it sounded like he went home after the concert and was picked up then?

(I checked the concert info and the update is correct with the November 28 date:

Strange if he has really been found 4 days ago because his sister "ELP" is still searching for him. But I guess the way important things about the case were reported by whoever first reported him missing means anything is possible!

His brother's is also still putting up missing posts. Last one was on the 10th. Very odd.

Not sure but family is saying its his photo license picture. I also think I found mom's FB and I'm not seeing that he was found 4 days ago. IMO

Everything I've read says he went missing after someone picked him up at home after the concert. So i don't know exactly when now but I guess Dec.4

Amara Jones, 18, went missing on Dec. 4 after arriving home from a Playboi Carti concert in Independence, Missouri. Kansas City, Missouri, detectives are investigating his disappearance.

Jones is from Raytown, Missouri, and he did come home after the concert, according to a release.

I'm having issues with these dates. This is saying he made it home on 12/4 after the concert. Confused!

Yes that is confusing. Unless after getting back from the Nov.28 concert, he took off with someone to the concert in Detroit for the Dec.4 for it as well?

Putting this poster on here again, as a reference. I think the important point is that aside from attending the concert Nov.28, which just seemed to confuse the issue, he actually was picked up later on in the week by someone unknown on December 4, not to be seen again. I'm wondering if the person who picked him up December 4 was someone he met at the concert.

That makes sense. I'm struggling to understand why they even mentioned the 28th concert on the flyer.

I agree @Allabouttrial and @Andreee . Seems it would be more important finding out who picked him up vs what he did almost a week prior. IMO

This is very sad. A group of teens, out searching for him, found a body. Positive ID will take a couple of days, but it is probably him. Those poor kids, what a terrible thing for them to experience.

Body found in Kansas City during search for missing teen

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kansas City police are investigating a body found behind a home Wednesday evening.

A group of teens found the body near the 4500 block of Hedges Avenue.

“Every time I close my eyes, I can see him. I don’t think I’m going to be able to sleep good,” said Lillyn Gumminger, who discovered the body.

Police are on the scene. The body has not been identified and police said it could take a day or two.

No foul play is suspected at this time, according to police.

The teens were searching for a missing 18-year-old form Kansas City. Amara Jones was reported missing nearly three weeks ago.

“My brother is best friends with him and this is completely out of character for him. He would never do anything like this,” said Tamia McGill who also discovered the body.

“Posts have been going around, yes, but nobody would actually go out and look for him. We thought, why not come out and do something and try to find him,” said Klowie Krebs.

Local teachers and students from Raytown High School organized the search effort Wednesday afternoon.

“He was an artist, he made music. He was talented too. Everyone is Raytown loves him,” McGill said.

This is a developing story. FOX4 will update as we learn more.
