LAKE OZARK, Mo. (KMIZ) Law enforcement is searching for Brian Byrd, 50, of Lake Ozark.

Byrd was last seen in a black Lexus on Sunday leaving his residence off of Sweetwater Dr in Lake Ozark in Camden County. The vehicle has a Missouri license plate EBOZ4G.

He was last seen wearing a light blue cardinal t-shirt, blue jeans and closed-toe black sandals.

Byrd is 6’2 and weighs 185 with graying hair and blue eyes.

If you have seen Byrd, please contact Detective Heidler at the Camden County MO Sheriff's Office or your local law enforcement agency.

A second vehicle has been found in the water:

***Update:

An investigation is now underway after not 1, but 2 vehicles are located at the 2-mile marker of Watson Hollow Cove.

According to the Highway Patrol, the first vehicle that was removed from the water was a car reported stolen in 2006.

Early on in the investigation, police officials reveled they were concerned the vehicle could be that of a missing Lake Area Attorney, Brian Byrd, who was reported missing just last night.

However, upon pulling the vehicle from the water it was obvious it was not connected to the separate cases.

A missing persons case has been opened for Byrd, who’s whereabouts remain unknown at this time.

Details about the 2nd vehicle at the scene have not yet been released.

This remains an ongoing story and we’ll continue to bring you the latest here on News/Talk KRMS.

oh wow. Anyone else confused? I wonder how they knew the 1st car was underwater. Sounds like it was there for awhile?! And then the 2nd car was pulled out by a separate agency but no word on if that 2nd car is a black Lexus. I wonder if that particular spot in the road is one where it's easy to miss a turn?!

Stolen vehicle found in Lake Ozark.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Underwater Recovery Team found the missing 1997 Plymouth Breeze vehicle that was reported stolen in 2003.

MSHP Underwater Recovery Team was looking for missing Camden County lawyer Brian Byrd's vehicle in Lake Ozark after his vehicle was last seen in the area.

"We will recover it and process it and move forward with any criminal charges that there may be the result from that," Camden County Prosecutor Caleb Cunningham said.

I was unclear as to why they knew where to search until I noticed this part:

The MSHP Underwater Recovery Team began a search Wednesday morning for Brian Byrd, a Camdenton man who was reported missing on Tuesday. Officials were led to Passover Road, after a surveillance camera observed Byrd's vehicle entering the area, but never leaving.

and also there's this:

Two divers entered the water at All About Boats Marina, after their SONAR device detected a vehicle in the water. At one point they believed there were two cars underwater, but officials later confirmed there was only one.

Not implicating anything at all, but just noting a sad fact that people are discussing about lawyers in the general area. Both a defense attorney from Columbia, MO and a Boone County, MO prosecutor were found deceased within days of each other in June (June 4 and 6 - no foul play). I hope that Brian is somewhere safe and will reappear, even though it seems pretty scary right now.

Oh-oh, apparently Brian missed several court appearances.

Brian Byrd, 50, is a local defense attorney and has not been heard from since Sunday evening.

“What makes this kind of out of character is that him being an attorney, he has regular appearances in court and he missed several court appearances, which is completely unlike him,” said Sergeant Scott Hines with the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

Google maps shows it's approx 12 mi from Sweetwater Dr to Passover Road. Did I miss what time he left his home and his "possible" destination? I also wonder if he's a boat-owner.
I've been looking at maps too trying to figure out any possible destination. I can't find any social media profiles for him or any family/friends posting about him on FB, but I am often terrible at finding that so it could certainly be there and I'm just missing. Read through MSM facebook post comments as well for family comments and didn't see anything other than a few people who have known him in the past but nothing stuck out to me that would give any info as to his normal behaviors and if this fits that. I did find his law firm via google, and it's in the opposite direction of Passover Road, so doesn't appear that was his destination.

I'm also VERY curious as to the surveillance that caught him entering that area- if you look up the street view for Passover Road, especially in context of the "All About Boats" Marina turn-off (Ponderosa Road), it's mostly residential/rural, winding roads, as the majority of this area is. I'm not sure I'm describing it accurately, but after thinking about it a bit more, it struck me as odd that they would have surveillance video so quickly with his car on it, unless someone in the area knew to check for it specifically, like he frequented the area, etc. By this I mean- LE (or an acquaintance?) must have had some reason to know he was in this area and subsequently check homeowners/business security cams, because it's not somewhere that's going to have CCTV or tag-readers every 20 feet or anything like that. Likely not even traffic cams anywhere as there are very limited traffic lights unless you are in a more commercial area. (I'm a frequent visitor to the Lake of the Ozarks and have family in this area.)

Surveillance cameras in this area: this area has year-round residents and a great number of weekenders. There are high quality cameras & home security all over. Protects the lake house & contents.

Jet skis in particular are hard to secure AFAIK, friends never by really nice ones, saying the cheaper it is, the longer you have it!

Also could be the marina's cameras, hoping to catch boat thieves.

I agree completely. I more meant that I’m curious as to how they knew to look for him on surveillance. The majority of people I know with surveillance cameras don’t check their footage unless something is missing or they want to see who’s at the door, or if they receive some kind of motion alert. The location where they caught his car on surveillance is quite a ways away from his house and I wondered how they happened to see him and identify him on the surveillance at that location… unless they were expecting him there or tracked his phone or car electronically.
