COLUMBIA, Missouri - A 25-year-old Missouri woman was charged with abandonment of a corpse for allegedly putting her infant son into a duffel bag and dumping it into a pond.

Evidence said the baby was born several weeks ago and a towel bearing King's name was found with the baby.

Cassidy King made her first court appearance Wednesday afternoon. She appeared in court with her public attorney, Stephen Murrell.

A judge set her next hearing for May 23rd.

A Moberly woman accused of killing her newborn baby has pleaded guilty to manslaughter charges.

She was sentenced Tuesday morning to four years for manslaughter, avoiding a murder trial. She also got four years for drug trafficking. The sentences will be served consecutively.
