Found Deceased MO - Christopher Burchett, 39, Park Hills, St. Francois County, 17 March 2019

The search continues for a man missing since March 17.

According to reports from witnesses, Christopher Burchett, 39, was last seen in Elvins Park, located in the southwest section of Park Hills.

Witnesses report that Burchett was last seen wearing only gray shorts and was reported to be under the influence of a controlled substance. Witnesses said he walked off along the railroad tracks that lead toward downtown near the stream.

Park Hills Police Chief Richard McFarland said that they are following every lead.

"We are still hopeful that we will find Burchett," he said. Officers and members of the fire department have searched the wooded areas around the park.

"We received a report that Burchett was knocking on someone's door on Shaw Street on the night of March 27, but have been unable to confirm that it was him," said McFarland.

As of 11:30 a.m., police and a cadaver dog have not yet been able to locate Christopher Burchett. Chief Richard McFarland of the Park Hills Police Department said they are going to let the dog rest and then continue the search this afternoon.

Unfortunately, they discovered a body near where he disappeared earlier today (4/10/19). I live in the area, and you can imagine the gossip mill right now. This sort of stuff doesn't happen a whole lot in the small town.

It was confirmed, that was him they had found.

Park Hills Police Chief Richard McFarland initially reported no identification would be made until after the autopsy. However, before 9 p.m. McFarland said family members positively identified the body as 39-year-old Burtchett. An autopsy will be performed.
