Weekend grows more violent as two found shot to death in KC (kansascity.com)

A busy overnight for Kansas City homicide investigators continued this morning, as police found two dead people in a residence at the 2500 block of Benton Boulevard.

After receiving a 6:30 a.m. call about a dead body, police discovered two men dead from gunshot wounds — one in his 20s and the other possibly in his 60s.

Police Chief Darryl Forte this morning ordered additional resources deployed throughout the city, including personnel who would not normally work weekends, because of the high level of violence over the past day.

Bronson A. Joyce, 22, pleaded guilty Wednesday to killing Alphonso Nicholson, 42, and Claude L. Carson, 61, and wounding a woman in the Nov. 12, 2011, incident.

A Jackson County judge sentenced Joyce to concurrent life sentences for two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of armed criminal action. He also received two 15-year sentences for assault and armed criminal action, also to run concurrently.
