A woman from Fairview has been charged with murdering her little boy last month.

Amy A. Tunnell, 21, is charged with first-degree murder and is in the Newton County Jail on a $250,000 bond.

It sure does take a long time to get through some of these court systems. Her trial should have been sometime in the summer of 2009, at least! It has been a year and 4 months since she was arrested. WOW!

Amy Tunnell was charged last year with first degree murder for the death of her three month old son, Zane.

Prosecutors dropped that charge last Friday, saying they did not feel they had the evidence needed to move forward with the case.

Prosecutors dropped charges against Amy Tunnell, 21, after a pathologist changes his mind, saying there was no indication of foul play...

Prosecutors say unless new evidence indicates otherwise, they don't anticipate refiling charges.

"Medical examiners said the baby died of suffocation and showed signs of previous abuse.

According to court documents Tunnell told three people she had caused the injuries to the baby"

also: "The medical examiner report shows the baby died of suffocation and had a healing broken rib.

Newton County Sheriff Ken Copeland said in April that Tunnell later admitted to shaking the baby.

Wonder what changed their mind, it appears that the baby was abused by the mother.

I thought maybe LE had interviewed her for hours and hours and pressured her, and she was probably already feeling the guilt that all mother feel when their baby dies.
