*I have to say this really breaks my heart. I feel this article. My chest and shoulders hurt and my eyes are starting to sting a bit…

St Louis police say they’re investigating the shooting deaths of a girl and a boy in a downtown apartment early Friday as a murder-suicide.

Investigators identified the pair as 12-year-old Paris Harvey and 14-year-old Kuaron Harvey and say they believe the girl killed the boy then herself.

Police did not say how or if the two were related, but family members told the St Louis Post Dispatch they were cousins.

The family, however, disputed investigators’ murder-suicide theory and told KDSK the shooting was accidental. Paris’s mother, Shinise Harvey, said the family was celebrating March birthdays, although she was not in attendance.

“Everybody was getting together to celebrate, and so the younger kids, they got a bed and breakfast,” Harvey said. “They were making a video, and (Paris) was playing with the gun, but it went off and hit him.”

So I'm assuming someone has seen this video of the accident? Two young souls, gone too soon. RIP
I can’t imagine the horror when little Paris realized her mistake. Her mind must have been in such an extremely panic paranoia. To choose to kill herself to avoid reality…omg just keeps going through my mind. Her brother? I’m assuming. OMG! Over and over. Those poor parents. To lose both children in such a horrific tragedy.

I CANNOT even begin to fathom how the parents are. Just kinda curious about something, I wonder where the gun came from.

So no parents at a party in an AirBnB rental with young kids in attendance? Were there any adults at the party? From what I can gather from the cryptic explanations from Paris' mom is that a group of kids got together and rented the AirBnB calling it a bed and breakfast type of celebration which suggests to me they were all going to stay there for the whole night leaving in the morning.

I am positive this tragedy was a terrible accident but who brings a gun to a party? A family party no less.

So who reserved the AirBnB???

Who brought a loaded firearm to a birthday party?

First of many questions....

From the article I previously linked:

"We've got to look out for each other. We're a family, and they're young," Shanise Harvey said.

That sentence could be interpreted in so many different ways. To me it sounds like they are circling the wagons.

ST. LOUIS — A family party at a downtown apartment turned tragic, and now family members are coping with the deaths of two young cousins after police said one of them, a girl, 12, shot the other, a boy, 14, and then herself.

Family members said Saturday that they believed that the deaths early Friday morning were accidental. They said the incident was streamed on Instagram Live while the two cousins were making a video together.

Kuaron Harvey, 14, and Paris Harvey, 12, were more than cousins, family members said — they called each other brother and sister.

“It wasn’t a situation where they were arguing or anything like that. They were playing with the gun, when they shouldn’t have been. Of course, they shouldn’t have been doing it. I think it just went off. It went off by accident.

Family members said Kuaron and Paris were in a bathroom at the apartment alone, making a video in the mirror.

After Kuaron was shot, the video shows the girl reaching for the gun, and it may have accidentally gone off again, they said. Both children were shot in the head, family members said.

“It was no murder. It wasn’t a suicide,” said Shinise Harvey, 35, Paris’ mother. “It was a freak accident. It happened.” She did not watch the video herself but family members who did described it to her, she said. They were “trying to be too hip,” she said.

Paris would call her mom into her room and then say, “mama, can you hand me my bags of chips over there?” Paris was one of nine children and a seventh grader at North Side Community School.

Kuaron was funny, had a goofy spirit, could do “backflips out of this world,” even when he was smaller, and was in the eighth grade, family members said. They said they believed the gun was his.

“No matter how good we try to raise our kids,” said Shinise Harvey, “they still are going to venture off.”

Police also posted on social media a graphic with a photo of white lilies on Facebook with the message: “We are sending our heartfelt condolences to the family of 12-year-old Paris Harvey and 14-year-old Kuaron Harvey who tragically passed away on 3/25/22.”

In what world does trying to be hip involve playing with a fully loaded weapon and pointing it at someone while taping the event? If you as a parent can't see the disconnect in that statement then I have nothing more to say on the subject. Excuses aren't a form of responsible parenting. I'm out.
