She was initially charged with 1st Degree Murder and found guilty in jury trial of Voluntary Manslaughter. She shot her boyfriend in the eye.

St. Louis Circuit Court Judge Lisa Van Amburg sentenced Shonta Roper, 26, on Friday. In January, a jury found her guilty of voluntary manslaughter, armed criminal action and escape from custody.

Police said she shot her boyfriend, Terrell Hadley, 29, during a domestic dispute in the 5500 block of Ashland Avenue in January 2010. After she was arrested, she broke free from her handcuffs but turned herself in a few hours later.
