Sergeant Tyler Rowe with the Sikeston Department of Public Safety said detectives need more information to help find Shyann Morrison, who disappeared over a year ago.

He said Morrison is a Texas native and moved to Sikeston just two months before.

According to the police, she was last seen at a Quick Chek 11 store in Sikeston in February 2021. That’s just 11 days before she was reported missing on February 16, 2021.

Heartland News asked a worker at Quick Chek 11 if they remembered her ever shopping at the store.

“I don’t,” Blythe Berry,” one worker said.

“It’s scary knowing all the cameras we have here, and not knowing what’s happened to her,” Berry continued.

Inside the store hangs her missing flyer, in case someone notices her.

“It’s been well over a year, and I know her family and friends miss her for sure,” Berry said.

Rowes says Detectives currently have points of interest in Southeast Missouri, Southern Illinois, along with the Houston, Tex. and Memphis, Tenn. area.

“Cheyenne (sic) this is to you from your dad and I, we just want to know that you are OK, you are loved, we miss you very much, we just want to know that you are OK. And your baby sister regrets every day that you have been gone because of the fight that you and her had and she just wants to make it right because she loves you she cries every night and prays every night for you to come home. We love you from the bottom of our hearts to the moon and back,” Morrison’s mother said

Morrison, 21,was reportedly last seen Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Quick Chek II in Sikeston. She was wearing a red jacket with fur, black pants and brown boots. She may have been on her way to Texas. Morrison is described as having red/auburn hair and brown eyes, between 5 feet, 5 inches and 5 feet, 7 inches tall and weighing between 120 and 140 pounds.

“Someone out there knows what happened to Shyann,” said “The Friends of Shyann Morrison” in a statement. “We pray this reward will give that someone enough motivation to do the right thing and let us know what happened to Shyann. This could be your loved one and if it was you would want someone to speak up if they knew anything that could help. So please help us bring closure to Shyann's family and friends who truly misses her and needs to know what happened to her.”

Circumstances of Disappearance - The missing person, Shyann Brooke Morrison, was involved in a disagreement and then gathered her belongings and left her residence in Sikeston, Missouri. EAST CAPE GIRARDEAU, Ill. -- Multiple police agencies were on scene in Alexander County throughout the day on Friday.

Sikeston DPS Chief James McMillen tells News 3 crews are looking for a missing person from Sikeston after receiving a credible tip.

The missing woman they are searching for is 21-year-old Shyann Brooke Morrison who went missing in February of 2021.

"At this time there is no evidence to support she is deceased but every bit of information or tips received is investigated by Sikeston DPS," Sikeston DPS said in a press release.

They were searching for Shyann Morrison, who has been missing for nearly two years. He said they were given a credible tip to search in the area.

At this time, they say there is no evidence to support Morrison is dead, but every bit of information or tips received is investigated.

“At this point, we don’t know that she’s deceased, but as you do with these cases, you just follow up on all the leads that you have and try to exhaust all them just to rule out possibilities,” the chief told us.

He said they got a tip that Morrison may have been “dumped” on the side of the levee. As far as the credibility of the tip, McMillen said they want to check everything.

“People start giving a little more detail about the incident and a little more background,” he continued. “It seemed like it had some credibility. If it has any credibility at all, we want to try to throw the resources at it, especially when we have somebody that’s been missing for over two years. It does kind of lead you to believe that some foul play may have occurred. Our hope is that she is alive and well, and maybe just doesn’t want to be found, but we don’t know that...”

Law enforcement took their search for a woman reported missing in Sikeston two years ago to Illinois on Friday, April 28.

Sikeston Department of Public Safety investigators along with the assistance of several other agencies spent Friday in Alexander County, Illinois, following up on a tip in connection with the Shyann Morrison case, according to Sgt. Tyler Rowe, public information officer with Sikeston DPS. Morrison was reportedly last seen Friday, Feb. 5, 2021, at Quick Chek II in Sikeston.

“This is the second search investigators have conducted in connection with this case,” Rowe said. “At this time there is no evidence to support she is deceased, but every bit of information or tips received are investigated by Sikeston DPS.”

Sikeston DPS investigators routinely monitor the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, or NamUs, for any new information or leads, Rowe said.

“We hope that Shyann is safe and just does not want to be found. The friends and family of Shyann are concerned for her safety because it has been so long, and no one has seen or heard from her,” Rowe said.

Assisting in the search efforts Friday were several Missouri and Illinois agencies including Illinois State Police; Illinois Department of Natural Resources; Eureka, Missouri, Search and Rescue with four search K-9s; Cape Girardeau Police Department; Alexander County EMS; and Sikeston DPS personnel.

“We would like to thank all that have been involved in this investigation and who have aided in the search efforts for Shyann,” Rowe said. “We still continue to ask the public for assistance with any information that could possibly lead to any information as to what happened to her.”

This is a frustrating case. I last spoke with Shyann's Father on FB back in late 2023. It's been 4 years TODAY since Shyann boarded a bus somewhere in Texas and came to Sikeston, MO. There was a disagreement possibly among roommates or potential roommates. So many unknowns. I have a couple theories: 1. Shyann may have been offered a ride as it was quite cold, and she was most likely on foot. Chances are Shyann didn't have enough money, or possibly no money at all, just the clothes/belongings she had with her. We don't know who the people are that she was with. Unless police were able to use cameras, we don't know where any of those people are. I HOPE L.E. has some intel that they're keeping close to the vest. 2 years ago, I saw two women that I thought COULD be Shyann. I was mistaken. Due to there being I-57 to go to IL North, or I-55 North to go towards St. Louis, Kansas City. Arkansas to the South tends to be trafficking area, as well as Oklahoma. My theory is there is a trafficking route from Arkansas, Missouri to Oklahoma and onto the West Coast. I just hope for her sake she is still alive. Sorry this is so long.
