My good friend was in a band with Dave Velk when he was murdered in his Northeast Minneapolis home in May of 2023. I had booked them a show later that month that he was never able to perform.
He had so much promise and his loss is greatly felt by the music community in Minneapolis. If you can help find any more information that would be greatly appreciated. There has been no public progress in the case in the past few years.
The police concluded a burglary gone wrong. However, Dave’s roommate Neil suspects that he was actually the indented victim based on threatening texts sent to his girlfriend by her ex (with a history of domestic abuse) the day before the muder.
The text message said, referring to Neil, "He won't be there for much longer... I know his work schedule, where he live what he drive... My friends aren't no one to play with. I don't even need to be there."
