27-year-old Brennan “Smokey” Simolke's mother believes her youngest son is dead. She hasn’t seen him since July 24.

Brennan lived with his mother and her boyfriend in an apartment in Waveland. He had been released in January from prison, having spent most of his time since age 17 locked up on drug charges.

The last night she saw Brennan, he told her that he was going to Sunflower Street in the Bayside Park community, where a friend of his lived. She said the friend is a member of the Simon City Royals gang.

Later that night, a Hancock County sheriff’s deputy was trying to pull over a car that sped up and drove away when the blue lights came on. Officers chased the car onto Mississippi 603, then onto Interstate 10 east. The driver pulled off the highway near the woods, bolted and ran. Two passengers ran, too.

Deputies caught the driver and one passenger. But the third occupant, believed to be Brennan, ran into the woods and hasn’t been seen since.

Missing Persons of America -Brennan Simolke missing from Mississippi

Brennan’s mother believes that her son never left Sunflower Street, and believes his disappearance is gang related.

And what does the driver and passenger say? One says Brennan was in the car and the other says he wasn’t.

On Facebook, Missy left her son a message, “I’m going to keep looking for you and get you home. Just guide us to you. Will be out looking again for you. Don’t give up because I haven’t stopped.”

If you have any information please call the Hancock sheriff’s office or leave an anonymous message here.

Not a shred of Christmas hangs in Missy Simolke’s apartment.

She has now lost two of her three sons, one to brain cancer in 2010, the other, well, she is not sure how her youngest, Brennan Simolke, died.

His body has not been found, but she knows he is dead. She does not know for sure who killed him. She does not know where, how or why he was killed, although she has her suspicions.

She estimates that she has logged 30,000 to 40,000 miles in her beat-up Chevy Trailblazer, searching woods and ditches filled with water, scanning roadsides for his body.

She’ll think about justice later. Right now, she just wants to bring her baby home.

Simolke’s mother, Missy Simolke, told the Sun Herald that she has repeatedly watched video a motorist captured of Brennan running from the vehicle. She said that she does not believe it was him, based on the way he was moving and looked.

She is determined to bring home her son’s body. She believes he is dead and that members of the Simon City Royals are responsible. She says Brennan hung around with members of the gang but is unsure whether he was officially a member.
