GUILTY MS - Ethel Winstead Simpson, 81, Clinton, 13 Sept 2010

Am I reading that right, Alabama placed a bond on him? WTH.

It just keeps getting worst.

James Hutto is now accused of killing his aunt in Alabama along with the stabbing of a man also in Alabama. That is why he has a bond in Alabama.

He has also been charged with capital murder in Mississippi in the death of Ethel Simpson.

So two murder charges and a charge of attempted murder and burglary.

Birmingham police have filed a murder charge against a Jasper man suspected in a trail of terror in at least two states.

James "Jamie" Cobb Hutto III, a 39-year-old convicted rapist who used to fight in Tough Man competitions, is accused in the death of his 68-year-old aunt, Virginia "Faye" Rardon of Birmingham.

Earlier today, authorities in Mississippi filed a capital murder charge against Hutto in last week's slaying of 81-year-old Ethel Winstead Simpson of Clinton, Mississippi.

Both women, authorities said today, suffered blunt force trauma to their upper bodies.

Hutto also is also charged with robbery and attempted murder in an attack on an Auburn man. That victim, Mark Ambers Cox, 56, remains at UAB Hospital in Birmingham in fair condition. Authorities say Cox was stabbed multiple times after a chance meeting with Hutto at a Lee County convenience store on Friday.

Authorities initially believed Rardon's death was a natural one because of ongoing health problems. But when U.S. Marshals came looking for Hutto and learned she had died, a murder investigation was launched. The autopsy showed foul play.

I am moving this thread to the Awaiting Trial forum.

Thanks for caring so much about Ethel.

I agree it is getting worse but with all he has done in Alabama why on earth would they set a bond? He is a murderer in Alabama as well. Have you heard what the bond was set at? Who wants this 🤬🤬🤬 on the streets. I know he won't get out because MS wants him, I just find it strange.

I think the reason they set bond is because as of right now, he is only charged with attempted murder in Alabama (no arrest yet on the aunt, who he is also suspected of killing). Not saying I agree, but it's probably following statute about what crimes are allowed bond.

From May 2013:

http://www.wapt.com/news/central-mississippi/hutto-sentenced-to-death/20324890

It took a jury about an hour to decide that James Hutto should die for murdering a Clinton woman...

The jury, which was brought in from Oxford, found Hutto guilty Saturday in the September 2010 slaying of 81-year-old Ethel Winstead-Simpson...

During Tuesday's closing arguments, prosecutors told the jury that the motive for Simpson's slaying was robbery. Hutto, who has a background as a fighter, hit, kicked and stomped Simpson, prosecutors said in closing arguments.

Hutto had still not been tried in Alabama for Faye Rardon's murder as of March 2015 but, with a death sentence already in place, I'm not sure that will ever happen:
