UPDATE: The mother, Shardee McGill was found deceased. The child is still missing.

This morning, around 10:00 a.m. Jackson police said they were notified by the Jackson FBI that the body of McGill was found in Epes Alabama. Interim Jackson Police Chief Sheriff Tyree Jones said her body was found in a shallow body of water. The cause of death is unknown but appears suspicious, according to Sheriff Jones.

Multiple agencies assisted in the search.

Jackson police are working closely with the FBI, MBI, and authorities in Alabama on the case.

Police said 32-year-old Shardee McGill and her 3-year-old daughter, Janae, were first reported missing Tuesday night. Her husband, Johnathan McGill, contacted police around 8:30 p.m. Sept. 23 to file the report, telling officers the two left home Sunday evening and never returned.

On Wednesday morning, a multi-agency search near Epes, Alabama, discovered Shardee McGill’s body in a shallow body of water. Authorities said the cause of death is still unknown but appears suspicious.

Earlier in the investigation, Shardee’s 2017 black Chevrolet Equinox, with Mississippi license plate HNJ 817, was found unoccupied in Epes. Johnathan McGill has since been taken into custody by Alabama police.

My guess - she's either in the water and they haven't found her, or he concealed her body somewhere else because he felt he would be judged more for killing a three year old than he would his partner. Toddlers are portable, easily concealed. Adults not so much. I'm guessing he thought the water would wash away evidence.
