John Quavontae Gandy was last seen on January 8, 2025 around 5:30pm. He was leaving his girlfriend’s apartment and getting into a red (possibly burgundy) vehicle on Holly Bush Church Road. He has brown eyes and black hair in short twists.

According to WPD Investigations Commander Don Hopkins, John Quavontae
Gandy, 19, has been missing since around 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8.
He was last known to be in the Holly Bush Church Road area.

Police said no one has been able to contact Gandy by phone or other means since he went missing.

Police officially listed Gandy on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) as a missing person.

“Anybody that have boats, have a drone, have four-wheelers, side-by-sides — come out and help me look for my son.”

A mother’s plea to the community and a grandfather’s frustration with local law enforcement is leading a family to go on a search for 19-year-old John Gandy, who has been missing since Jan. 8.

“We share locations, and his phone was pinged last in Holly Bush,” she said.

And the tips, cellphone and car information still are not leading to answers, which has left Donald Gandy increasingly frustrated with local law enforcement.

Hopefully LE was given more information than what is posted here. Red or Burgandy vehicle, but no listing of type, (2 door 4 door, SUV, etc) make, model or even a partial plate number. If you take the number of registered cars in MS, and factor in the average percentage of cars that are of that shade in the US (8-9% of total cars) that's over 75,000 possible cars in the state that color, not factoring in cars from adjacent states. But, if I watched a friend or family member leave the house to get a ride somewhere, I wouldn't be thinking of paying that kind of detailed attention to the vehicle - so it's understandable. Hopefully someone has a secrity camera on their home that might capture the vehicle, or at least a partial plate number. Hoping for some news for his family soon.

It really is sad how he seems to have just disappeared, wonder what else they may have learned from the girlfriend, like any hold back evidence?
