Missing woman’s car found in Lamar County

The distance is about 9.5 miles.

Google Maps
So I live right up the road as I’ve said before. And right now Lamar county sheriff’s department and the paramedics and coroner are out there where Leslie’s car was found. I’m thinking it’s possible they found her body. I’m not sure will update when I know.

Skeletal remains found near site of missing woman’s vehicle

Skeletal remains were discovered Saturday morning near the Okolona School Road site where the car of a missing woman was discovered more than a month ago.

Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel said cadaver dogs discovered the remains about 7 a.m. Saturday “in pretty close proximity to where the car” of Leslie Ann Smith was found on Sept. 10.

“We expanded our search area,” said Rigel, who said the remains were found about a half-mile from the original search perimeter.

Rigel said the remains had not been identified but would be sent to the State Crime Lab for DNA testing.

Another article that mentions Ms Smith. Illustrates a great purpose provided by these wonderful people and their dogs.

[…]

Leslie Ann Smith had abandoned her car on the side of the road a month earlier in Lamar County, Mississippi. Deputies looked for her in the adjacent woods, but the dog team found her scattered remains, along with a gun that suggested suicide, about a half-mile from the original search perimeter.
