Multiple agencies help search for missing Alabama man

Several agencies continue to search for a missing Vernon, Alabama man.

Roger Taylor, 48, was last seen in Greenwood Springs on Monday in Monroe County.

Tuesday, Sheriff Cecil Cantrell says they found the man’s car around Cemetery Road, but not Taylor.

Cantrell says family members say Taylor may have some sort of physical issue.

Search and rescue teams from West Point, Starkville, Union County, and Oxford are assisting.

UPDATE: Search continues for missing man in Monroe County
On Wednesday, Monroe County Sheriff Cecil Cantrell confirmed Roger Taylor's car was found on Blair Cemetery Road, which is in the Greenwood Springs area approximately 2 miles from the state line.

He was driving a silver 2008 Saturn Astra from Lamar County, Alabama, to his daughter's home in the Greenwood Springs area of Monroe County.

He contacted his daughter at 9:44 p.m. and said he was lost and stuck.

His last phone call was pinged to the Greenwood Springs area in the vicinity of Wise Gap and Grubb Springs Road.

His family says he suffers from health issues and he may have been confused.

Geez... stuck in the middle of nowhere. Nothing but trees everywhere. And, to top it off, on a path called Cemetery Road.

I wonder if it is swampy back in there? Alligators and other creatures?

I don't know about swampy or what creatures there may be, but in this article, there is video of the area where the car was found. The reporter says it is thickly wooded and very hard to get to with a normal vehicle that doesn't have four-wheel drive.

so he's from alabama, but missing in mississippi. greenwood springs is right on the border, i believe. and yes, there are definitely alligators out in these swampy areas of ms. (i am from there. there are also bobcats, and terrifying snakes and GINORMOUS spiders, but i digress.) . hope he's found soon! i cannot IMAGINE being out there for a few hours, much less overnight. wonder what a "physical issue" means?

eta: just watched the video, and wanted to say: the land can go from dry to swampy in a heartbeat in rural mississippi, each having it's own set of issues and/or predators (animals). but very strange if they haven't found him or any of his clothing in days in the entire area. i can only imagine he wandered off to look for help/go home, after not being able to get out of the mud he was stuck in. (it's super rainy there now, too). but, hmmm... he wouldn't disappear without a trace if it was an animal, at least not the kind with vicious teeth and, obviously, snakes or poisonous insect bites. weird.

Yikes. I am worried for him if he has left his car. I am from the more southern part of the state and don't know this area well at all, but if he is experiencing health issues, his decision making skills may not be at their best. Temps are fine but there has been tornadic weather conditions in the area today.

*waves @Quill !

i am from south ms., too! i just realised after re-reading my post above that i was not sure exactly what was going on with the weather in ms. as of today/this last weekend. i should have written "generally, in march, the weather is rainy/chilly/warm," (well, i could probably go on with numerous contradictory adjectives... it's actually quite unpredictable in ms. this time of year), but i haven't lived there in many years, so that was me generally speaking about the weather in march. the animals on the other hand, all true. ;) i did not know there was tornadic weather there today! yikes. i really hope we get an update about his safety soon.

Waves back! @swedeheart
You are absolutely correct! Our weather here can be at least three seasons in one day this time of year. It is very unpredictable, which is exactly why we had tornadic conditions here. That hot and cold air comes together and just creates a bad weather day. As far as animals, we have coyotes here in my part of the state that would worry me as much as anything else.

Family of missing man still search for answers and his whereabouts

LAMAR COUNTY, Al. (WCBI) – It has been nearly two months since an Alabama man first went missing, now family members have asked for the public’s help to find him.

Roger Taylor, of Lamar County, was first reported missing on March 10.

“It’s been bad not knowing, not knowing where he’s at, if he’s OK, if he’s dead or alive, or whatever could’ve happened to him,” said Taylor’s youngest daughter Alyssa Taylor. “It’s been horrible.”

Family members said the 58 days that their loved one has been missing has been filled with pure anguish and uneasiness.

I am so sorry you and your girls are going through this. I can’t even begin to imagine the heartbreak.
I assume there hasn’t been any additional updates or leads to go on?
I pray there are answers soon.
