Circumstances of Disappearance:
Spiers was last seen in St. Martin, Mississippi on August 25, 1994. That night he had dinner with his parents at their home on Goffville Road. During the meal he told them that he'd seen something he shouldn't have seen. After dinner, Spiers left his parents’ residence presumably to return to his own home. He has never been heard from again.

Spiers worked with his father harvesting oysters and did not show up for work the following day. His family went to his home nearby on Ruth Street but he was nowhere to be found. His car was parked in front of his house with a rented videotape sitting on the roof, the door was open, and his wallet and checkbook were on the passenger seat. All the lights in his house were on and the television was turned on. He left behind his keys, chewing tobacco, and medication.

Spiers suffers from obsessive-compulsive disorder and was taking daily doses of several medications at the time of his disappearance. He has been hospitalized for his conditions several times in the past. His family stated that despite his problems, it's uncharacteristic of him to leave without warning. They believe he met with foul play although his whereabouts remain unknown.
