Looking at that FB, I hope I am allowed to mention that last post sounds maybe like a goodbye to me - also if you look at the one underneath with the vehicle notice that it's actually a hearse. Coincidence?

But the kicker to me is his post on July 29 2020 - read the comments he made there. I don't have a good feeling about this and hope he and his family find much needed peace.

if you dig back to that same time period on his baby mama's page, he makes an interesting, alarming, sad comment on a post she makes also that really gives an insight to the things he was experiencing before his disappearance. i feel bad for the guy. wish i could give him a hug.

Me too. And when I read YaYa_521's snip above "We have searched and found his shirt, it was described, him wearing his one shoe and one sock and a cowboy rope." my heart sank.

As much as I hate to say this, in this case JMO I would tell the searchers to remember to look UP, don't just scour the ground.

Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services give update on missing person Leo Wagner

Noted from the article:

• Per Blackfeet Law Enforcement Services (BLES) Officer Frank Goings, Wagner was last seen by family and friends near the St. Mary and Babb areas.

Timeline

April 27
BLES officers responded to a call in St. Mary about a man under the influence walking near St. Mary Lake. When BLES responded, they were unable to locate the man. BLES received a second call that the same man was walking North on West Shore Road with an injured arm. BLES responded and searched the road, St. Mary and Babb but were unsuccessful.

April 29
BLES received a missing person report for Wagner. BLES followed up by speaking with his family and friends about his whereabouts.

May 1
BLES searched Babb and St. Mary.

May 2
• A cabin near Big Nose Bay was burglarized. Wagner's family identified clothing and items belonging to Wagner at the cabin and that it appeared an injury had occurred.
• The recovered clothing items "indicate (Wagner) was severely injured."

The search effort to locate Wagner included helicopters, horses, ATVs, boats, drivers, cadaver dogs and other equipment.

May 8
Audio recordings regarding Wagner's disappearance were shared on social media. BLES interviewed people in the recording and searched the area described but said the claims "proved to be fictitious and unsubstantiated."

May 9
BLES scaled back the search effort.

The investigation into Wagner's disappearance is "open and ongoing."

BIA takes on two Blackfeet missing persons cases

[...]

BIA took over last summer, about 15 months after Arden and Leo went missing. Because of federal law, jurisdiction for felonies on tribal land is shared between federal and tribal agencies.

“Among their reasoning for requesting the case transfers were because MMU Agents are specifically dedicated to analyzing and solving missing and murdered cases involving American Indians and Alaska Natives,” the BIA spokesperson said of why Blackfeet tribal officers asked for federal assistance.

The spokesperson said the reassignment frees up limited tribal law enforcement resources. Blackfeet officers are still involved in the cases. BIA can’t comment on ongoing investigations, but said both cases are active and being worked.

[...]

A BIA spokesperson said the agency uses victim specialists as a bridge between agents and the U.S. Attorney’s Office “to provide the family with the available information that won’t harm a case.” Specialists also break down the criminal justice process for families.

“In both the Leo Wagner and Arden Pepion’s cases, legal circumstances exist that prevent us from speaking about the case management thus far,” they said.

Details of Disappearance

Wagner was last seen in Babb, Montana on April 27, 2021. That day, authorities received a call about a possibly intoxicated man walking near the banks of St. Mary Lake, and then got a second call about the same man walking north on West Short Road with an injured arm. Both times they searched, but never found the man, who may have been Wagner. He has never been heard from again.

A burglary was reported at a cabin near Big Nose Bay on May 2. Wagner's family identified clothing and items belonging to him at the cabin, and it appeared a severe injury had occurred. Extensive searches turned up no sign of Wagner, however. His case remains unsolved.
