There is an unsolved murder in my local area (UK) that took place in 1957, whereby a 35-year-old widow named Muriel Maitland was attacked while riding to work at the Nestle Factory in Hayes, Middlesex, through Cranford Woods. Her body was found in a shallow grave several days after she was reported missing, after failing to turn up to work.
I've managed to pull up newspaper cuttings about her murder, and have started to compile accounts from local residents who were alive at the time about what they knew about the case, but I'm having a strangely difficult time trying to locate MEPO case files and other official documents pertaining to the case. Not sure if that's because of how old the case is (although other cases I've looked into from this era have this documentation readily available through the National Archives), but wondered if anyone had any advice on how I should proceed my research into this case.
