Okay Websleuths family, I considered posting anon or not posting at all but I need help to make sense of this.

My older brother (38 yrs old) has been living with schizophrenia since his teens and has been homeless for about a year. Prior to that he was living with our parent who basically abandoned him. I've been in regular near daily contact, sending money, providing a cell phone, ensuring he's aware of available resources, etc. Communication abruptly stopped a week ago.

He has zero history of drug use, no violence, no arrests, he's just very ill. I checked jails and hospitals in his area, no luck. I live hours away but will likely go physically search for him Tuesday if he doesn't turn up. Filing a report at this stage can do more harm than good because he has always been afraid of police. He may hide or spiral if he finds out they are looking for him.

I have no idea what to do so I come to Websleuths. Hopefully any locals can keep ears open. Non locals can maybe reassure me or validate my worry. I don't know what I'm trying to accomplish here.

Miami area (North Miami Beach). 38 year old male. Biracial, can pass as Hispanic or white. Very very thin. Dark hair.

When he became homeless he stayed in the area where they had been living for over 25 years. He was never known to wander too far from the general vicinity. I fear he may have been victimized somehow but I know it's irrational.

Thanks for reading.
