At age 81, Fola Coats might seem a little old to join the Navy. But the great-grandmother recently received a letter inviting her to enlist in the Seabees of the Naval Reserve.

Too funny! The armed forces are having so much trouble recruiting right now. I have an 18 year old son who receives calls DAILY, up to 5 and 6 calls a day from the various recruiters here in town. They promise him the moon and stars, and lots of "adventure" to boot!

Matt has two years of Japanese language, and the Marines have *verbally* promised Matt that if he signs up with them, they'll send him to Japan to continue his studies, but they will not put the promise in writing. Not to worry, however, because the recruiter's word is "as good as gold".........yeah, right.

(Although the offer to send him to Japan may have something to do with the Korea situation.)
