NC - Amariyah, 2, & Kassandra Daniels, 19 mos, die in hot car, 27 June 2008

Thanks Deansws... it's been 8 years now since that happened and I still hate thinking about it. Things can happen in a blink of an eye with little ones. I am so glad mine are all growing up now lol.

OMGosh sadie! I am glad that everything turned out ok. Gosh...just to think of the outcome...and you are a responsible parent. :(

I know what you mean. Just wait until they start to drive! A mother's worrying days are never done.

My daughter is almost at driving age. I already have heart palpitations just thinking about it. Your right we never stop worrying about them. If it's not one thing it's another! I liked it better when they were NON walking age and we had to do every single thing for them! hehehe....

News 14/Charlotte just mentioned that they were playing with their FOUR year old brother. I suppose he was the one watching them? In respect to the terrible pain the family must be feeling, I'm trying hard not to be judgemental. But I WISH people would watch their kids as closely as they MUST to stop horrible accidents like this from happening, over and over again.

Welcome to WS and I agree with you.

Okay I don't care what kind of flaming I get for this one....what a freaking irresponisbile thing to leave those babies in the care of their 4 YO brother!!! Traggic as their deaths were....IT WAS TOTALLY PREVATABLE!:furious:

Agreed. A four-year-old is not capable of watching over other children much less his/herself! That poor little boy will likely suffer from guilt the rest of his life.

This is terrible and in no way is a 4 yr old near being responsible for 2 babies. I flipped when I found out some of the neighbors in my area leave their cars unlocked. Why anyone would do that when they KNOW kids are outside playing, some supervised, some not. I also flipped a few weeks ago when my sons father left him unsupervised at 5 outside playing by himself while my ex was fixing the sump pump in the basement. Accidents can happen anywhere at anytime..... people HAVE to keep an eye on their kids!

My prayers for this family.

god this stuff pisses me off. What adult, what PARENT in their right mind would send their two toddlers out to be supervised by a four year old? It is just amazing, literally mind boggling the amount of children we hear about in the summer being shut in hot cars - some of them on purpose while the parents run in somewhere to do errands.
I was at a restaraunt the other day and there was a cat in a parked car with all of the windows up. She was scratching frantically trying to get out and panting. It was 90some degrees outside. I went in the restaurant and yelled at the top of my lungs - WHO has a cat locked in their car? These idiots...I mean people, were just astonished to think that their cat could die in the car with all the windows up. HELLO???? I wanted to ask them if they would leave their children in a hot car too.

There seems to be a whole population of parents that dont fit into the legally negligent definition, so nothing is done. I have neighbors that are the parents of 5 and 8 year old girls. The girls are allowed to wander anywhere, anytime. I've seen them playing on the entrance sign to our development, out of sight of any neighbors and to the side of a high speed rural road. They are basically wandering without supervision until they are called in for dinner. (Usually Subway.)
