This is a local story for me. But it's not gotten any headlines yet. It's a really small area that sort of falls off the beaten path news-wise. Thought I would post it in Crimes in the News for starter. Mods, do what you may with that...

"On Monday, investigators said they have several suspects in the death of a woman found in her yard. After identifying the woman as Anne H. Kirkpatrick, 46, Sheriff Charles Blackwood said, “The victim’s family has been notified, allowing us to make her name and address public. We understand the community’s desire to know more information; however, we are unable to provide additional details at this time. This is necessary to protect the integrity of the investigation.”
According to a statement from the Orange County Sheriff's Office, an off-duty deputy was driving through the Hurdle Mills neighborhood when he spotted Kirkpatrick lying in her yard at 2509 Brown Road.
By Monday afternoon, several of Kirkpatrick's friends had gathered there to care for her animals. None wanted to talk on camera, for fear of an assailant who has yet to be caught.
Authorities did not release Kirkpatrick's cause of death but said they are investigating it as a homicide.
Within the past month, Kirkpatrick took out domestic violence protection orders against two men. One of them was her husband. The other describes a man she currently or previously was dating. In the orders, she claims both had physically abused her."
