Hoping he is okay and will be home soon. He may have been shaken up by the accident and wasn't sure what to do.

...Highway patrol said there was a pursuit before the crash and the people in the vehicle jumped and ran. No other details were available.

ETA: the video at the link doesn't mention a pursuit & says something a little different. It reports other people inside the vehicle said he walked into the woods and they thought he was walking to the Hall River. Today the river was being searched & the search will resume tomorrow morning. FWIW.

His friends told officials he got out of the car and went into the woods.

Alamance County Emergency Management officials put a boat in the Haw River on Tuesday. The search is resuming Wednesday morning, with investigators searching the banks of the river.

An update is expected to be provided by the sheriff’s office around 11 a.m. on Wednesday

On Wednesday, the sheriff's office shared more details about what led up to McDaniel's disappearance. Deputies said McDaniel was one of four people in the car who had tried to break into cars earlier that day.

The sheriff's office said the group got involved in a chase with police and their car crashed into an embankment in a residential area. The sheriff's office said the group ran from the car and jumped into the river to avoid being caught.

Of the four, McDaniel has not been accounted for.

Deputies said an 18-year-old who was in the car has been charged with breaking and entering.

The sheriff's office said its priority is finding McDaniel, and there are no charges against him at this time. They have 75 people searching for him along the Haw River. They are also using drones and boats.

ALAMANCE COUNTY, N.C. — The Alamance County Sheriff's Office said human remains were found Wednesday during the search for Antwain Demar McDaniel, a missing 19-year-old who investigators believe jumped into the Haw River after a police chase and crash.

Wednesday afternoon, Sheriff Terry Johnson said authorities found a body in the water. There was a piece of clothing spotted in the water first, Johnson said. He said deputies felt like it was attached to a body.

This was off the Durham Street Extension, around 50 yards on the Travis Creek Bridge.

Johnson said the direction in which the creek was going down allowed searchers to see the clothing. He noted that the water will also affect a body greatly, especially if the body has been there for a while.
