McDowell County deputies search for missing woman

MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) — Deputies are asking for the public's help in finding a missing 31-year-old woman.

McDowell County deputies say Brittney Crystal Bumgardner last spoke with her family on Monday, April 30, and was reported missing on Thursday, May 10.

Bumgardner is described as a white woman who stands 5 feet, 3 inches tall, and weighs about 130 pounds. She has brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information concerning Bumgardner’s whereabouts is asked to call the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office at 652-2235 or the McDowell County 911 communications center at 652-4000.

Authorities identify body found in McDowell County creek as missing woman

McDowell County say the body of a white female found floating in Paxton Creek Monday afternoon, May 14, 2018, has been positively identified as 31-year-old Brittney Crystal Bumgardner, who was missing for weeks.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday morning at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, where doctors used dental records to confirm the identity.

It was also determined that Bumgardner, of 5757 Old Greenlee Road, drowned. There were no signs of physical injury, and no foul play is suspected at this time.
