<<The vehicle belonging to 65-year-old Dennis Boyd of Columbia County, Ga., was discovered parked at the gravel lot on May 15 by a Transylvania County sheriff’s deputy, but Boyd was nowhere to be found.
After an investigation, law enforcement authorities discovered that Boyd had been reported missing by a family member May 8. On May 10, Boyd was taken off the missing person’s list after a Polk County Sheriff’s deputy spoke with Boyd and found him to be acting normally.
Boyd was looking at a road map in Polk County and was attempting to find the best route to Nashville, Tenn., when a Polk County deputy encountered him, according to Transylvania County Chief Deputy Eddie Gunter.
“The Polk County deputy said he was coherent and didn’t display any signs of confusion,” Gunter said.
But on Tuesday, May 15, Boyd’s abandoned car was found parked at an area most well-known as Kratzart’s Curve – so named because of the mysterious murder of Wendy Kratzart, whose body was found in a van below the parking area in 1994.>>

<<In addition to his dog, Boyd left his clothes, hat, cell phone and his bi-polar medication.
“He didn’t take anything with him, nothing but his wallet and his car,” she said>>
