SALISBURY — The Rowan County Sheriff’s Office is asking the public’s help in their search for a missing Salisbury man. Sixty-four-year-old Earl Guy Hall was reported missing by family in February. The RCSO described Hall as a white male, who is approximately six feet tall and has black hair.

He is known to drive a 1989 Chevrolet S10 with blue stripes and was last seen at his home in the 200 block of Westway Lane off of Gheen Road outside of Salisbury.

Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Hall is asked to call Detective Amber Weaver at 704-216-8715 or Lt. Ryan Barkley at 704-216-8711.

Detectives found and recovered Hall’s truck, a white and blue Chevy, during an unrelated investigation in Lincoln County in July of this year. Investigators say the truck was spray painted to hide the identifiable blue stripe.

Police questioned the individuals in possession of the truck, but no charges were filed in connection to Hall’s disappearance.

Did an extensive search of the woods to the west of Guy's property. 5.34 miles through thick woods with gully's and streams throughout. Area was clear. Marked some areas for reference and for the property owners awareness such as the location of a large fresh burrow probably for the coyote seen numerous times on the property. Very little debris in the woods. Not a single shred of clothing was found.

Time to soak my feet!!!

Still waiting on permission to search the pond to the south of Guy's property. Did some aerial recon on Friday and the pond is clear enough to see some of the bottom from the air. With my Remote Control - Sonar Search Boat (RC-SSB) and my underwater Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) I should have no problems doing an extensive search.

I have attached an image of my roaming search rig and some of my equipment. The RC-SSB is on the left with the yellow hull. The ROV is in the middle and is a FiFish V6. The drone on the table is my DJI Mavic 2 Pro with a Garmin Striker Cast Sonar Bobber. I use this to check a body of waters depth and contours to see if a vehicle being present is feasible. Since we are searching for human remains, the sonar dipping drone won't get much use in this case.

I also have several other drones I use in searches. A DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise Dual with Thermal that I use for Search and Rescue as well as searching for heat anomalies on the ground that may indicate a gravesite. A DJI Avata FPV for searching through the woods where a traditional drone would be problematic. And finally, a DJI Mini 3 Pro for general recon, overwatch, and video.

Just thought I would give you some insight into my search capabilities and techniques. Fell free to as questions.

Anxious to hear your theory. I’m in a neighboring county and interested in your updates. Thanks for your dedication to finding Mr Hall.

I need to speak with Detectives first. Trying to set up a meeting. I'll release info here when I can on that. There are some interesting things about this case with a few possible outcomes possible.

Recent article stating “Earl “Guy” Hall’s family hasn’t seen or heard from him since Christmas,” according to a Rowan County Sheriff’s Office news release.
He was reported missing in February.
“He lived a reclusive lifestyle, residing in a van parked on his property,” according to the news release.

Quick update. Batteries are charging and preparations are being made to search the pond south of Guy's property. I walked the pond and property and other than deer tracks at the waters edge, all is as I found it Thanksgiving weekend. I will be there tomorrow morning with Detective Weaver and we will see what we find.

Stay tuned.

Searched the pond to the south of Guy's property. No human remains were found. Did an extensive sonar search and used and ROV to grid scan the entire pond. Was there just over 3 hours. Public Safety UAS, a local training company, joined me for the search. It turned into a great training experience and was thankful for their help and support.

Been awhile since I posted on this search. Exhausted accident and self harm scenarios. My conclusions after talking with family members, friends, and investigators pointed me in a different direction. There are some foul play elements in this case that lead me to believe the Guy met a dire end and his body is probably where stolen and stripped vehicles in this area are dumped. I am currently working another case, Nancy Bunly, that is giving me access to just such a place where criminal elements could dump vehicles. I will be searching for Guy and well as Nancy at these site.

Last week, I was finally given access to a site to search for Nancy Bunly and possibly Guy. From all indications, the site, looked very promising, but were unsuccessful in locating Nancy, the vehicle she went missing in, or any indications that Guy may also have been there. Detectives from LPD and RCSO were present for the search along with representatives of the site owners. For privacy purposes, this is all I can say at this time.

I spoke more with the RCSO about Guy's case. The search for Guy continues.
