Lail apologizes to jury, Jaydon's family after guilty verdict in Catawba County Superior Court
William Howard Lail III was found guilty of second-degree murder in the drowning death of Jaydon Ray Sandlin in Catawba County Superior Court on Tuesday morning.
He also was found guilty of two counts of felonious child abuse for bruising Kylie Madison Sandlin and Jaydon.
The jury also found him guilty of two counts of non-felonious child abuse in regards to the burns discovered on Kylie and Jaydon.

At the end of Lails trial, which lasted more than four weeks, he was sentenced to an active prison term of 17 to 22 years, plus an additional 300 days to be served at the end of that sentence.

I find it hard to forgive myself, so I cant ask you to, Lail said to the jury and Jaydon and Kylies family, crying. To Jaydons family, Im truly sorry.
I am mad! I want you to apologize for what you did to Jaydon, my mommy and me in court in front of everyone. I want you to know I remember when you hit my mommy in the face and when you kicked Jaydon across the room really hard. You are a big meanie.
