At first I thought this was a case of someone on a long drive back home, deciding to rest for the night at a motel, and unfortunately encountering foul play there.

But Charlotte is just an hour away from Mocksville. Unless he was suddenly extremely tired, why spend money on a whole night at a motel when he only had to drive for one hour? Were there bad driving conditions? Bad weather?

But even more surprising, the Lakewood Motel where his car was found is just five minutes away from Mocksville! Why stop there?

Did he decide last minute to stay in the area, since the next morning he had to meet his girlfriend at her college, which is closer to Mocksville than to Charlotte? At that point, why not just turn around and ask to spend the night at the girlfriend's? Especially since he had to meet back with her so soon.

If the details of the case are accurate, whatever happened to him must've been quick, less than five minutes after he left the girlfriend's.

I don’t believe he was anywhere near the motel and that his car was simply abandoned there. His bloody clothes were found several miles away. Did he actually leave the girlfriends‘ house alive? I thought I had saw a wedding engagement article from earlier in the year for him. Was this his fiancé he was visiting? If so, why would the article state he was visiting “a girlfriend”?

I imagine there are many more details to this case that are not disclosed. However, he is still missing and deserves to be found. There was a mention of a river and also a reservoir where the initial search took place.

BBM. I had that same thought too—just didn't know if I should post...

Since the motel is along the route he would've taken back to Charlotte, I assumed that whatever happened to him occurred on the way. But you're right—maybe he met foul play before he even set out, and the car was planted at the motel because it's along the route.

As for his clothes being found by the Yadkin River, I'm assuming the location could be near the bottom right? Like where the Kountry Kids Learning Center is now? What confused me was the South Yadkin River on the bottom left.
