We’ve had some similar cases in Wilmington over the years and LE are always very quiet. Wilmington is a great town, but there is a dark underside that town officials don’t want to publicize. IMO
Can you elaborate? Related to $$ and women going missing -just a guess. MOO

My family went to Wilmington two years ago because my husband REALLY wanted to move to the area. We drove forever checking things out but I wasn’t sold on it. (He was still a little interested, mostly wanted to start a small business around the Kure Beach pier. Once I started looking up the demographics of Wilmington, it is as you stated, nice but a little off in a few places, I couldn’t put my finger on it but I am realizing after reading your post- it is the feeling I get about a “shady” side when reading some crime reports. Thanks for posting that part, I wasn’t actually crazy.

Wilmington grew too fast with the "haves" coming in from all over the world after the movie studios opened there. The "have-nots" have been pushed farther and farther away from what is good. Think of what over development does to wildlife. Then think of what it does to people who can no longer afford to live in their own town but can't afford to go anywhere else.

ETA: Transient people are drawn to this area too.

Wilmington used to be my favorite place.

Market Street appears to run the entire length of the city. Wish they would give a last seen location.
Yes! As a local I was going to say exactly that! Market Street is a long road and is very busy with lots of traffic. Turning left is a nightmare! It's my least favorite road in town because of that. It starts downtown and goes into the Ogden/Porters Neck area before turning into a highway. Also it is very accessible to other highways/routes if you are going out of town. Lots of hotels too. It's typically where the tourists of Wilmington stay when visiting if not at the beaches.

There is a homeless camp off New Centre and Market Street somewhere near Target. It is very sad. There is always someone holding a sign at multiple intersections in the area.

Depends on where you live, Wilmington can be iffy. Snows Cut/River Road also.
Unless you live on Bald Head Island. It’s like a lot of other coastal towns you can go from mansion to lock your car door pretty quick.

I'm no expert here, but my suggestions is...;)

If you're referring to the arrests of someone who is, was, or could be associated with Jessica, then you could just list the charges without any personal identifying information. For example:

There exists court/arrest records for someone who is/was/may be closely associated with Jessica. The two arrests were (3/13/21) for assault by strangulation & assault on female and (3/06/21) possession of sch IV & VI controlled substances. Of course, the person and charges may be totally unrelated to Jessica and her disappearance, but I can't help but wonder whether LE has made contact with this person? Perhaps he/she/they might know of Jessica's whereabouts or activities in the days/hours leading up to her disappearance. MOO

(Hope that helps you. :))

On a somewhat unrelated note, I wonder if Jessica has ever visited Greenfield Lake in Wilmington? Rumor has it there's a gator that hangs out there.

Yikes.

I'm sure there's a statistic out there that males who strangulate their intimate partners often go on to kill them.

There’s not very much out there about Jessica meyers
The second story seems to be about someone else with a similar name, also missing from Chicago. Or am I missing something?
