A Silver Alert has been issued for a missing 60-year-old man from Shelby who officials say is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

Kenneth Wayne Jimson was last seen on Dec. 1, on the 200 block of 208 E Grover Street. Police say Jimson was last seen walking from the hospital towards the direction of his home. He has not been seen since.

Jimson is described as a black male, 5'10" tall and 200 lbs. He has short black hair and brown eyes.

People in the southern end of the county and into South Carolina have reported seeing a person that matches Jimson’s description, but law enforcement has yet to place eyes on him or talk to him, according to Shelby Police Captain Steve Seate.

Jimson was last seen around Care Solutions on East Grover Street in Shelby. Jimson is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

He has wandered off once before, according to his family who later found him headed to the Gaffney, South Carolina, area. Police believe he could be in the same area and are working with the family on where he might have been headed or where he would go in that area.

It has been a year and a half since Lauree Butler has seen or heard from her brother Kenneth Jimson, and she is worried.

Jimson was discharged from Atrium Health in Shelby in December 2017. His wife called him a cab to take him home, but he never made it, according to family.

A few months later, people in the southern end of the county and into South Carolina reported seeing a person that matched Jimson’s description, but law enforcement was never able to catch up to him.

The last positive spotting of Jimson was around Care Solutions on East Grover Street in Shelby. Jimson is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive impairment.

He has wandered off once before, according to his family, who later found him near Gaffney, South Carolina.

Jimson is 5-feet 10-inches tall and weighs around 200 pounds. He has short black hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing black jeans and a black jacket.
