Kyle Austin Graham of 827 Wiley Gaskins Road, near Grifton, was found inside his home by a relative about 12:30 p.m. on Monday, according to the Pitt County Sheriff’s Office. Responding deputies determined he had been shot...

“We are sure he didn’t shoot himself,” Dance said. “It would’ve been impossible. There was no gun found on the scene”...

Graham was enrolled as a student at Pitt Community College, served as the Students Veterans of America vice president there in 2013 to 2014, and remained active in the organization.

Graham’s brother, Robert Walter Graham, 55, lives next door at 837 Wiley Gaskins Road, and the two homes share a large clearing surrounded by woods in the rural area southeast of Grifton.

In November, 2015, it was Robert Graham who was the victim of a shooting. Deputies were called to his home and found that he had been shot... Kimberly Burnette Forbes, whose address was 827 Wiley Gaskins Road, was assaulted and also transported to the hospital for treatment of her wounds.

They reported that two men with their faces covered forced their way into the house and robbed them. No arrests have been made in that case, and detectives can’t say whether the two shootings might be related.

About the same time. A year apart. Sounds personal to me. Initially. But then the one before was a robbery. Any connection? Possibly. What would make them a habitual target for robbery rather than theft? Hmm. Of course, just thinking.
