38-year-old Godwin woman missing since Sunday, officials say

Maria Ventura-Cruz, of 2960 Hayes Mill Road, Godwin, was reported missing by a family member on Jan. 16, according to the sheriff's office. She was last seen on Jan. 15 around 7 p.m. 3

Family and friends described Ventura-Cruz as a very charismatic woman and a responsible mom.

Authorities are investigating and have not ruled out criminal misconduct.

Ventura-Cruz lives in her home with her boyfriend, the children's father, Francisco Yerbafria, 26. 1

Yerbafria was jailed Tuesday when he was charged with three misdemeanor counts of child abuse for leaving the children home alone.

Police said he does not think Yerbafria has anything to do with his girlfriend's disappearance, but that he had been questioned.

Whoa, no kidding. I hope that rumor isn't true. I can't find how old the kids are but that would tell us a lot about how legit the charge they are holding him on is. For instance if the kid is 11 and they took him in they clearly just want to talk to him.

Francisco Yerbafria, Ventura-Cruz’s boyfriend, was charged Jan. 17 with child abuse after the sheriff’s office said he left children home alone.


Yerbafria is also a person of interest in Cruz’s disappearance, the sheriff’s office said.
