WINSTON-SALEM, N. C. – A mother is now facing charges after authorities found her 3-year-old twins locking in a room and covered in feces in North Carolina.

According to WGHP, police originally went to the home to investigate a report of gunshots

Police later arrested the mother, 22-year-old Betrice Monique Tribble, for child abuse and resisting arrest.

Police say they believe the children might have been left in the room for at least two days, without food or water. EMS says the children were dehydrated, and EMS transported the children to a local hospital.

Tribble's bond is set at $6,000, and a court date is set for May 15.
