That neighbor, JC, said Mehta had come to her for help. She said she felt concerned for Mehta after she recently lost her dog, Violet, a rescue who died at the age of 14.

“She approached me Saturday night and told me she felt unsafe and asked if she could stay with me. Of course, I let her and her dog Shanti come over,” said JC. Sunday around 5:30 a.m., JC said she heard Mehta open her apartment door and leave without her dog, phone or vehicle. JC said she never returned.

Thanks Pommy I was just going to post this. I think Priti's friends are worried that she may have self-harmed :(
Let's hope that's not true!

No records that she had filed a restraining order against anyone now or in the past (just an old speeding ticket from many years ago).https://portal-nc.tylertech.cloud/Portal/Home/WorkspaceMode?p=0 The loss of a dog you've had for years is heart-wrenching - I hope she reaches out to someone soon.

Priti R. Mehta (Adams), dob 26 august 1976 in WV, lived in Raleigh, NC • Clemmons, NC • Washington, DC • Blacksburg, VA • Beckley, WV, and in FL.

Oh, this sounds like she was in a bad mental place for one reason or another and I’m sure the loss of her pup was so hard. I hope she’s OK. :( I know you can’t know much of anything about a person from a photo, but she looks really sweet and kind.

I'm wondering why the friend or LE isn't disclosing more about "why" Priti felt unsafe? That would seem to be a major piece of information. That would be the first question out of my mouth if she had come to me. Or did she feel mentally unsafe, worried that she would harm herself? Or was this a planned suicide and she simply wanted to make sure her dog was with someone? Such a bizarre case.

Leaving her dog absolutely does NOT compute!! Who last saw her? Not who heard someone leave her apartment, but physically saw her there.

The thought that occurs to me is that if she intended to self-harm, but did not want to leave her other dog alone until someone raised the alarm, that she told her neighbor who she trusted this story so she could go there with her dog and the dog would be in a safe place.

I hope this is not the case and she is found safe!

I live in the community and i met her walking my dog when i had just moved in. we talked about our puppies being the same age and how house training them was driving us crazy. she gave me advice and talked to me about her older dog, i could feel the love she had for him. she is rly sweet and ive been googling her like crazy waiting for any updates. i hope shes okay genuinely.

Her friends and people who knew her from 30 years ago are very worried. Information is not adding up and it seems like the police aren't doing much. How do we get more cooperation from them in actively helping to look for her?
