This is an odd one. She had a roommate since 2014 but was living under what seems to be an assumed name.

Estimated Age Range (Years) 50-80
Estimated Year of Death 2023
Height 5' 2"(62 inches)
Weight 75 lbs
Hair Color Gray or Partially Gray
Left Eye Color Brown
Right Eye Color Brown

Raleigh, North Carolina
County Wake County

Circumstances of Recovery Individual lived with a roommate since 2014 and only provided the name of "Doris McFadden" and would never provide a date of birth or any other personal information. No records of any sort can be located for a "Doris McFadden".

One exclusion listed: Lisa Boyle from Wayne NC MP101346

There is also a post mortem photo available at NamUs.

McFadden is a somewhat common surname in NC, and even more common in SC and MD. That said, it could have been her maiden name, if she was ever married and legally changed it, or vice versa.

I guess I would be uncomfortable with a roommate who failed to divulge any personal details over the course of nine years (!). Surely she received mail or some kind of finncial support from somewhere/someone. Maybe this was at a group home or was some other type of informal arrangement.

75 pounds?! Is that accurate? That’s so small… I’m 5’2” 110 pounds and still thin. Maybe it’s because she was elderly. That’s tiny. I’ll have to look at her post mortem.
Edit: Yep, she’s very thin and frail in appearance. No records have been found for this name? McFadden is not a terribly uncommon surname. She could very well be known as that surname but use a different one because she was married/divorced. Just a theory.
Second edit: Y’all, if you’re searching for missing persons who look like the decedent try narrowing the age down. She looks older than 50 to me. At least 65.

This MP went missing in July 2021. She was 62 at the time. 5’3” 100-110 lbs. I can see some similarities between her and the deceased. She is missing from NY. I think she could have moved during the time she has been missing.

MP has Hispanic and black ancestry so may be an exclusion. Faces look pretty similar, if MP lost weight maybe there could be a similarity. Could have moved back and forth if the deceased lived in NC back in 2014. Again probably an exclusion but still one step closer to cracking the code.

Annie Ruth Paul? This woman was last seen in early 2015, but roommate could just be off by a few months?

She’s a bit taller and like twice the weight. Perhaps she got sick and lost a lot of weight? She fits the age range. I don’t have a clear picture of Annie for comparison to “Doris”.

Regarding height, my thought was that old people tend to get shorter as they age. And regarding weight, I was thinking as you suggested--weight loss can be explained with illness. Ms. Doe does not seem like she was in good health prior to her death. An old woman with cancer or something similar could easily lose a large amount of body weight. I would think she was not getting medical care if she was living under an assumed identity, which would exacerbate the effects of an illness. Which is sad because should have been able to get Medicare.

Jane Doe definitely looks like a sickly woman. She probably had a medical problem. Based on her eyes maybe she had cataract or another vision problem? Or perhaps it’s just because of postmortem changes. She looks like she was dead for only a couple hours when that photo was taken.
