GUILTY NC - Reginald Daye, 46, fatally stabbed, Durham, 3 April 2011

She was so happy at the NG and then the ball dropped and tears rolled down her face as they said GUILTY of Murder in the 2nd Degree. Def Immediately Cuffed.

I bet she thought she was going to get off.
I am actually surprised she got convicted. Not because I think she isn't guilty.

Remember this woman?

DURHAM, N.C. - Crystal Mangum, who falsely accused the Duke lacrosse team of rape, was found guilty Friday of murdering her former boyfriend.

She was accused of stabbing and killing Reginald Daye after an argument. Her defense attorney said she only "nicked" his colon.

Judge Paul Ridgeway instructed the courtroom that there would be no outbursts when the decision was announced.

Tears swelled in Mangum's eyes after the verdict, and she was handcuffed immediately.

Mangum wis facing being 170 to 216 months in prison after being found guilty of second-degree murder.

The jury took only a day to find Mangum guilty.

Mangum became a national figure after she falsely accused Duke lacrosse players of rape in 2006

Isn't Abaroa's retrial coming in early '14 also?

Yes -- just getting back to this thread -- so you have prolly gotten answer to your question a week ago or so, but Abaroa is scheduled for trial on 1/13/14. Jury selection & all...

The first trial was streamed, so here's hoping that the next one well be, too. After the jury is selected, as you know...

And as you recall, the 1st jury was 11-1 in favor of conviction; Abaroa thought the 11-1 count was for acquittal.

You'll see me there, BD! :)

And thanks for the date, I hadn't heard when the retrial would start, doesn't seem that far away considering how long it's been since the non-verdict, but I'll be more than ready by then. Looking forward to seeing Charlene again, I like her courtroom style.

(Sorry for the thread OT, mods.)
