Missing Man James City, N.C.

The Craven County Sheriff’s Office needs the public’s assistance in locating Robert Milton Green, 47.

Green was last seen on November 15, 2025, at approximately 10:00pm on Kennedy Drive in James City, N.C. and was reported missing on November 17, 2025, by his family.

Green left his residence on foot walking along the railroad tracks towards New Bern.

Green was last seen wearing a white t-shirt, red sweatpants, and red high-top Nikes.

Crystal Gill is Robert's sister, and she tells me the Sheriff's Office has been in constant contact with her family.

The Sheriff's Office said in a news release that they have conducted multiple searches, quote, 'by foot, air, and water.'

It was in the upper 40's that night so I don't see him as having planned to be gone on a long walk wearing just a T shirt if he was in a normal state of mind. https://www.accuweather.com/en/us/james-city/28560/november-weather/2114001

But in looking at his history he was likely under the influence of something IMO. I'm only citing criminal (non-traffic, unless related to another non-traffic arrest) arrests going back 14 years, but he has 32 arrests going back to 1997. Manufacturing Drugs, selling drugs (near a school no less),possesion (though many are minor marijuana) over a half dozen driving under the influence (some older than what is cited below). I just hope he didn't have access to a vehicle. I have not posted his sentencing info for brevity but the inmate locator link below has further information. But he has served time in incarceration for some of these charges and currently is in arrears to the court for $2800.

According to the North Carolina DOC inmate database he's been in and out of prison since 1997 and has a felony incarceration for a motor vehicle incident that based on the language in the database seems to indicate a death might have been involved,. Hopefully, a lawyer here can probably better explain that charge which states it as:

I don't have any idea what happened to this man, what I know about his disappearance is what I have read in the posted articles - he was last seen at 10 pm, leaving on foot walking along the RR tracks to downtown New Bern (which according to the map, is approximately 2 miles). He has not reached out to his family (which is unusual) and air, water, and foot searches, and canvassing by LE and family have produced nothing.

As the map shows, there is water on both sides - the Trent River and the Neuse River.

There is no doubt that he has a history with LE (as GraceG posted), including incarceration. Maybe history is related to his disappearance, maybe it's not. Either way, I think it is important, assuming I am reading and understanding correctly (in the DOC records and NC legalese found on Google) to mention the following:

(1) The most recent court filing in March of 2019 (more than 5 years ago) was for DWLR NOT IMPAIRED REV (same charge as many of the other charges posted). If I am searching and reading correctly, this is

DWLR Not Impaired Revocation (N.C.G.S. § 20-28 (a1))​

This classification of DWLR is charged when the basis of the revocation is due to non-impaired driving charges, such as Failure to Appear, Failure to Pay Fines, or accumulating too many drivers’ license points. The length of revocations issued by DMV can also vary. This type of DWLR holds less consequences than its counterpart, as it is now classified as a Class 3 Misdemeanor in North Carolina, holding a maximum punishment of 20 days in jail, which is an uncommon outcome. In most instances, this charge can be dismissed if the underlying issues causing the suspension are fixed. More importantly, this offense is seen as a non-moving violation in the eyes of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles, so there is oftentimes no additional suspension on an individual’s driving privileges.

(2) He has not been incarcerated since 09/05/2017 (more than 8 years ago), when he was released on probation/parole. This incarceration was due to the conviction of the SPEEDELDARSTMV/DEATHOR2AF(PRINCIPAL) charge and a consolidation of other 2013 and 2016 charges.

(3) His DOC record shows he has not been on probation/parole since June 2018 (more than 7 years ago).

Thanks so much for the details on the DWRL charges and other info - hence my feeling his disappearance may have been related to possibly being under the influence (with a history of drug use, possibly alcohol as well). He wasn't really dressed for colder night temperatures. The water therefore, is worrisome.

A body has been found just two miles from Robert’s home on Kennedy Dr. The identity has not yet been released. Name is being held pending autopsy.

CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - Craven County deputies are investigating after they say a body was found along the Neuse River shoreline.

Yesterday, deputies were called to the area of Pine Road for a report of a deceased person located on the shoreline.

Based on the investigation, deputies say they believe they have identified the person and have contacted their family.
