NC NC - Shawn Burton, 44, truck found in Warren Co, poss foul play, Durham, 22 Mar 2022 *Arrest*

Investigators are attempting to locate Shawn Samuel Burton. Burton is a 44 year old black male weighing approximately 280 to 300 lbs. and is 6 feet 4 inches tall. He was last seen in the 700 Block of N. Duke Street in Durham, N.C. on 3/22/2022.

"He left the house at night and said that he was going to the club to promote an event that he had coming up," his wife said. "That was the last time I saw him."

Burton's wife told WRAL News that the family believes he was abducted by a group of people. Durham police would not confirm if he was abducted or not.

"They said that they think there was some foul play involved," she said. "I don’t know who these people are. I don’t know what they did to him. I don’t know where he is."

Per the above link he left the house to work at Club 919 which is approx 10 miles from where he was last seen per Google Maps.

Warrenton (where his truck was found) is about an hour away.

He has a felony arrest history (from NC Dept of Public Safety Offender Public records) for possession of a controlled substance and an illegal weapon. Given his young age at the time likely a youthful indiscretion but it also may indicate he had acquaintances involved in illegal activities, at least at one

The club name is actually "9one9". Here's their website. The 9oNe9 – The hottest nightlife in the 919
I've eaten lunch next door. The club is always quiet then (not surprising).

Warren Co. is in the opposite direction from the club, about an hour northeast of Durham, near the Virginia line. I didn't see anywhere in the article that said the truck was found in Warrenton itself, just in Warren County.
ETA This is the first I've heard about this. Obviously WRAL ran a story but not much else in local publicity.

He's a big guy so wouldn't surprise me if it was security, but his wife mentioned "an event he had coming up"? Was he a promoter?

Burton left his home last Tuesday to work at Club 919 but never made it there, his wife said.

A man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance of Shawn Burton, 44, a Durham father of six who has been missing since late March.

Darrius Tyson, 30, of Durham, was taken into custody on May 3 and charged with first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder in connection with Burton's disappearance.

Tyson is being held in the Durham County Detention Center under a $2 million secured bond. Police said Burton is still missing.

Burton's wife, who did not want to give her name, told WRAL News she believed her husband was abducted. She described her husband as loving and said he has no enemies.

ETA I hope this eventually brings justice and answers for Mr. Burton's family and friends.

Darrius Tyson, 30, has been charged with first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder, according to NBC Durham affiliate WRAL-TV. Authorities say he is linked to the disappearance of Shawn Samuel Burton, 44, who hasn’t been seen since March 22.

Police say Tyson is one of at least four people responsible for restraining and injuring Burton, though it remains unclear whether or not Durham Police believe Burton is dead. They have not named the others suspected in Burton’s disappearance.

Buton’s wife, who spoke under a condition of anonymity, says that the news of Tyson’s arrest brings hope as she continues to search for her missing husband.

“That way, hopefully, we will be able to find out who are the other people who are involved,” she told WRAL-TV. “And hopefully find out exactly here Shawn is.”

On Tuesday, a judge denied bail reduction for Darrius Tyson, who is charged with conspiracy to commit murder and the kidnapping of Shawn Burton.

Last week, two other people were also indicted om Burton's disappearance.
Tariq Henderson and Brentley Yancey were charged with first degree kidnapping, second degree burglary, and conspiracy to commit murder.
