Tonita Brooks is still missing. :( MPCN has a nice write up with more details about Tonita's personality and living situation. I doubt she voluntarily left and has willingly stayed away from her family for this long. Her loved ones need answers. I hope they can find her soon.

Human remains were found Thursday evening in a wooded area near the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences in Durham, according to the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.

Bones were discovered in the area shortly after 6 p.m., and sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and started investigating, the sheriff’s office said in a news release on Friday.
The article further states "The DCSO contacted the Federal Bureau of Investigation since the NIEHS building is federal property, the sheriff’s office said."

It's not easy to enter their property. The EPA and NIEHS share a campus with DHS serving as security. You need a valid ID and a verified contact to enter the campus, and go through a metal detector when entering a building, it's pretty much like airport screening. So it's not an easy place to get into. The bones might predate the early 2000s when they started to beef up security after 9/11.
