ROARING GAP, N.C. — A search is underway for two teenage boys who are missing off a trail at Stone Mountain State Park, according to a spokesperson for N.C. State Parks.
Officials say the pair went backpack camping Friday night, and put their backpacks in a car before heading out on a hike Saturday.
The teens called 911 Saturday afternoon around 2:30 p.m. 20 people are out searching for the pair. Officials say they were able to get a GPS location, but are unsure how hard it will be to get to the boys.
Rescue crews were using a drone with a thermal camera to help with the search. Officials have not said when the search will be called off if the teens cannot be found.
Rescuers tell WXII 12 News they don't believe the boys are hurt.
