Walter Vernon McCraw has been missing for a month and his family is worried.

The 51-year-old was last seen at McDonald’s on U.S. 74 on July 11, but he was not reported missing by his family until on Aug. 1.

“There is nothing to explain why he has been gone this long,” said Capt. Steve Seate with Shelby Police.

Seate hopes that McCraw is still in the area, but at this point investigators are unsure where he could be.

“We have had people out actively looking for him and not just law enforcement,” Seate said.

McCraw has ties to other communities, but inquiries have left investigators with nothing.

McCraw lives on Rehobeth Church Road with his mother, Seate said, but McCraw was known to wander the Shelby area.

Police ask anyone with information on McCraw to call Shelby Police at 704-484-6845.
