Deceased/Not Found ND - Jeanna North, 11, Fargo, 28 June 1993 *K. Bell guilty*

  • #21
Jeanna has been missing for twenty years this week. Her mother died in 2009 without learning what exactly happened to her daughter.

I will never forget where I was when the news of Jeanna's disappearance first aired on local television. I was five years old, a fearful child, and Jeanna's face stuck with me all these years.

I hope Kyle Bell thinks of her every day.

In exchange for a voluntary statement about Jeanna's disappearance, an investigator told Bell he would recommend an unspecified sentence to run concurrently with his molestation sentence.

Interrogators reminded Bell that the statute of limitations never expires in a murder case, and someday he possibly could face charges.

Bell jumped at the offer to effectively serve the same sentence for two criminal cases. In a series of interviews over a period of hours, Bell said Jeanna performed a sexual act on him in his garage, just minutes after she was last seen. He claimed she initiated the encounter.

21 years today.

I was 5 years old when Jeanna vanished, and I still remember watching the news coverage and being unable to sleep that night in case a "bad man" took me too. At the time, she seemed so grown up to me, and now I realize that she was just a child. A baby, with a whole life ahead of her. When I was growing up, her name was invoked as a reason to be wary when playing outside, to avoid strangers, to stick together.

I hope that 🤬🤬🤬 Kyle Bell is haunted by what he did to her.

Jeanna's mother died in 2009. I am no believer in an afterlife, but some part of me wishes that she ended up with her daughter.

Jeanna, you are not forgotten.

John North is glad the parents of Jacob Wetterling finally know what happened to their son after he was snatched from a rural road in St. Joseph, Minn., in 1989. He's gratified they can finally lay him to rest.

But North, formerly of Fargo, is still waiting for the same for his youngest daughter. In a phone interview last week from his home in Albuquerque, N.M., North said he holds out hope that day will come.

She was also 11 years old when she disappeared, on the night of June 28, 1993, while Rollerblading to her north Fargo home from a friend's house less than a block away.
Kyle Bell was charged and convicted of Jeanna's murder in 1999. Bell had told them he dumped her body off a bridge over the Sheyenne River, but in 14 river searches, they never found a trace. It's believed to be the first such conviction in North Dakota lacking the victim's body, according to prosecutors and defense lawyers.

Remembering Jeanna North: 25-years after her disappearance and...

Thursday night marks a grim anniversary for our community and a family that lost their little girl.

25-years ago, 11-year old Jeanna North asked to go rollerblading with friends near her North Fargo home.

She was never seen again, her body never recovered.

Never has a story gripped our region this much, and for so long.

And still, 25-years later, some of the most tragic unanswered questions of all.

What happened to Jeanna North?

Kyle Bell is a piece of trash, a piece of scum... he went through all the processes to become a miserable life on this earth... he killed this beautiful girl without any guilt, then he got rid of her... he was prosecuted and sent to jail and then he escaped... I'm very glad that he was found quickly by the Walsh program... he hid like a miserable rat but the worst of all is that he never revealed or said where Jeanna's body is... that's all that's missing to complete this puzzle and give peace to the family even though her mother passed away...
whatever it is
rest in peace
