Amanda Nielsen was found dead at her home on January 2, 2017. An autopsy released in April 2017 indicated her cause of death as blunt force trauma to her head. Nobody has been arrested. She was married at the time and has three children. The children were removed from the home and placed in State custody (with family members.) Her husband Drew called 911 but then left. (See information below.) The case remains unsolved. I am posting this because I did not see her name in a search and am hoping for justice for Amanda. Especially when it the local police department brags about no homicides in 2017.
This article, http://journalstar.com/news/local/9...cle_f704c61b-9fac-5ed7-a4a1-74bbec6f5677.html describes some of what happened:
Amanda J. Nielsen's husband called 911 to summon medical crews to their home at 1141 Carlos Drive at 4:24 a.m., saying he found her not breathing, according to Lincoln police.
She died at the scene, and crime scene investigators were called to the Meadowlane neighborhood home after "a few things appeared out of place," Lincoln Police Officer Katie Flood said Tuesday.
An article about the autopsy report from April 2017, http://www.1011now.com/content/news...uma-to-the-head-autopsy-shows--419476913.html, states:
Lancaster County Attorney Joe Kelley said the cause of death is blunt force trauma to the head... Kelly said that the manner of trauma is undetermined, and that blunt force is sometimes associated with a homicide, but Nielsen could have also fallen and hit her head.
The May 2017 article says state retains custody of the three children who were in the house when she died. They are with grandparents. http://journalstar.com/news/local/9...cle_70f09869-f34c-548c-93a0-b0753d5d4225.html It also says:
Court documents say medical units were sent to 1141 Carlos Drive at 4:24 a.m. on Jan. 2, after Drew Nielsen called 911 to say he found his wife, Amanda, not breathing.
He told the 911 call taker that he left after the two had a fight and got home to find her surrounded by pills. He was adamant that she was beyond hope and hung up before answering questions, according to the police dispatch audio.
Now this week's Lincoln Journal Star has article about Lincoln Police Department's statistic that there were no homicides in Lincoln in 2017. http://journalstar.com/news/local/9...cle_8bc12124-0955-503a-948f-58cb8ed5cec2.html There is reference to Amanda in the article:
