Police found the body “sitting upright” after gaining access to the chimney that sits between the first floor and basement, officials told WJAG. Cops weren’t able to confirm whether the body belonged to a female or male.

Police said they believe this was a result of an “accidental incident” but that all avenues will be reviewed.

Norfolk is about 120 miles northwest of Omaha.

The victim was identified Wednesday as 29-year-old Zachariah Andrews, who had an arrest warrant issued against him more than two weeks after he vanished, police said.

From the MSN article above, he’d had some unsavoury run ins with the law previously. Per the article above, friends commented on his socials about him needing to leave a particular woman alone and to remember what he learned in some sort of therapy. Did the woman live in the building? Did he have any connection to the building? A tragic case of trying to break into the building?
What an awful way to go, regardless. The fact that while he was deceased and trapped in the building his car was directly outside and ticketed and that screaming was reported in the walls is painful to read about any human being.

Officers told the resident to call back if they heard it again, police say. Officers also spoke with three other residents in the building underneath the other resident but they did not hear any yelling.

Police say that there was “loud television playing in an apartment” that officers checked, according to KETV.
About four days later on Sept. 20, officers were called back to the apartment and a warning sign was placed on Andrews’ vehicle that was parked in the 300 block of Northwestern Avenue, according to Norfolk Daily News.

A missing person report was not taken until Oct. 3. According to police, he was then entered into the missing person database. He was reportedly last seen on Sept. 15 around 12 p.m. in the 1200 block of West Norfolk Avenue.

About a month before the body was found, a resident in the apartment building called police about someone yelling for help but once officers arrived, they reported that the yelling had stopped.

Police were called by at least one person:
The day after Andrews was last seen, Norfolk Police received a call from a resident inside the apartment building claiming they heard mysterious screams....
The cops searched the property and spoke with multiple residents, none of whom heard the pleas for help, so offficers left without finding the source...
