Found Deceased NE - Nathan Fujan, 23, Wahoo, 28 July 2020

Nathan Fujan, 23, was last seen at his home on July 28. It’s been 16 days since he was last seen, but the sheriff said they have no leads as to his whereabouts.

Fujan does not drive and is known to frequent Cooks Park in Wahoo and the library in Wahoo.

In an updated post from August 9, the Sheriff’s Office said Cooks Park and the wooded area between Cooks Park and Lake Wanahoo were searched using volunteers, a trained K9, and a drone. Unfortunately, there were no signs of Fujan.

LE said Thursday they are in the process of organizing another search, this time focusing on the lake, moving to a "recovery mode," given the length of time that has passed without sightings or contact with his family.

The Saunders County Sheriff's Office continues to follow up on any information that we receive regarding this missing person case.

K9 search and rescue volunteers have been used numerous times to search areas of interest and abandoned or vacant properties along with the continued use of drones.

We would like to encourage anyone who has any information to please call our office at 402-443-1000. Even the smallest bit of information may help in this case.

I live very close and Wahoo is pretty tiny. I’m surprised he hasn’t been located yet. Which to me means it was either truly an unexpected accident OR Someone doesn’t want him found.

Sheriff's office: Human remains found near road Tuesday afternoon

According to a news release from the Saunders County Sheriff's Office, the sheriff's office received information about a possible body near County Road 17 south of County Road M.


The sheriff's office said deputies arrived at the scene with a Wahoo police officer and discovered a person's remains.

Investigators are working on determining a positive identification and cause of death, according to the news release. The sheriff's office said the preliminary investigation revealed the person is most likely a male who was previously reported missing.

Thank you. I’m thinking it is a pretty good possibility of being Nathan. Weird I was just thinking about him the other day and came here to see he was still missing.

The usual. In the US, if there was an accident it is usually reported but the consequences of unchecked mental health crises and addiction are still considered taboo by the press, surprisingly. Not salacious enough to garner more clicks as opposed to just the standard "foul play not suspected" boilerplate, I guess. Not enough more to risk being seen as insensitive to the family anyway I guess although deaths by straight up stupidity like falling into a guyser at Yellowstone should be more embarrassing and those get national press.
