LINCOLN, Neb. (WOWT) -- Lincoln Police say Nathan Kempter, 32, of Colorado, is the man who was taken into custody Friday evening in connection with the Amber Alert issued 14-year-old CI*.

That word came during a police briefing Monday morning as police provided the first details of the case since word that C* had been located in Highlands Ranch, just south of Denver, early Saturday morning.

Police said Kempter was arrested after police finally located C*. I* was reunited with her family later that day.

I* was reported missing in Lincoln around 5 p.m. on Friday when officers responded to the 2500 Block of S 74th Street.

Police said she had previously been corresponding with individuals who were out of state and she was likely the victim of a child enticement scenario.

Kempter was found with CI, the victim, just after midnight Saturday morning in Colorado.

Thousands of people retweeted and shared CI's picture along with some key information: she was last seen getting into a red SUV possibly with Texas plates.

Officials say the tips poured in.

So much, Lincoln Police Chief Jeffrey Bliemeister says, most of their officers spent their time merely going through those tips.

There was one problem: those tips were based on incorrect information.

"None of this information, in this case, assisted in locating the missing juvenile," said Chief Bliemeister.
An official Amber Alert was released nearly five hours after she had last been seen. Even then, it still had that incorrect information: that she was likely traveling in a red SUV with Texas plates.

"In this case, we learned after the examination of digital records that have been provided to us by the family and have been corroborated through our look at her cell phone, that Nathan Kempter was not driving an SUV and did not have Texas plates," said Chief Bliemeister
Monday morning, Chief Bliemeister said it was actually a red car with Colorado plates.

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — A Highlands Ranch man was arrested after authorities found a missing 14-year-old Nebraska girl, who was the subject of an Amber Alert, in Colorado, according to a Nebraska police statement.

Nathan Kempter, 32, is facing charges of child enticement after police say the Lincoln, Nebraska teen was safely located in Colorado early Saturday morning and reunited with her family.

Grand jury indicts Colorado man accused of enticing Lincoln girl

A federal grand jury has indicted a 32-year-old Colorado man on child enticement charges after investigators allege he brought a 14-year-old Lincoln girl back to his hometown for sex, according to court records.

Nathan L. Kempter, of Highlands Ranch, faces two felony counts in connection with the Aug. 2 incident, according to an indictment unsealed Wednesday.

The first count, enticement of a minor, carries a possible life sentence while the second charge, interstate travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, is punishable by up to 30 years in prison.

The Journal Star is naming her at her and her parents' request.

In September, she testified before a jury that found Kempter, now 34, guilty of attempting to persuade a minor to engage in sexual activity and traveling to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
