Within two to three seconds of colliding. Why would he have repeated the orders and then ignored them? Those people must be saying a prayer of thanks for sure.

That is very strange. I saw on the news last week that we really do not have as many qualified air traffice controllers as we used to, and as we need.
However, this doesn't sound like a controller error.

I live 75 minutes from the Atlanta airport, so it is where I fly out of and back into when I travel....it is a freaking zoo and a huge city unto itself.
It's the busiest (and I think, the largest) airport in the country....it's amazing something like this doesn't happen there more often. I hope they thoroughly investigate the pilot who ignored orders from the tower. :loser:
