Hi everyone.

I've been interested in true crime for the longest time but I usually just watch videos, documentaries and listen to podcasts. I'd love to be able to research cases myself and I'm unsure where to start.

What websites are the best to use to look things up? What things are the must haves to look for when looking into a case?

Any advice for a newbie just getting started with research is appreciated.

Thanks!

Scroll down the threads, click on one that interests you, and see what more experienced posters have tried.

You might start with cases geographically close to you, or places you've visited. Knowing the area is very helpful. If you're interested in Missing people, try that forum; if unidentified remains are intriguing, try those.

We're a village, you'll find a niche!

Start with what you know and work outwards from that.if you need to know something ask yourself who would know then ask them. Then ask your self who MIGHT know
If it's a missing person you think went to city x ask your self where would a stranger in a city go.what would they need?

Welcome to WS. There are many threads here involving both famous and relatively unknown cases. If you've been following a specific case, there's probably a WS thread about that person. Many good people here so welcome to the WE community.
