SUBJECT: Missing Person- Public Assistance Requested

On Tuesday, 11-26-2024, at 8:08 AM, Durham Police were requested to conduct a welfare check of Alexis Garcia, 24 Years Old.

Garcia last spoke with and was seen by friends on Thursday, 11-21-2024. His vehicle, a black, 2021 Mercedes, was located at the Scammell Bridge rest area located off Route 4, Durham.

The Durham Police Department determined the vehicle was parked at that location and unoccupied from Saturday, 11/23/2024, at 8:30PM, until the morning of Tuesday, 11/26/2024, when it was secured by the police department.

Garcia, a University of New Hampshire student is described as a 5’9” tall male, with brown hair and brown eyes. His last known clothing description is unknown.

He is originally from Illinois. He has ties to the US Navy and US Air Force ROTC.

The Durham Police Department does not believe foul play is involved in Garcia’s disappearance.

Police Activity:

Today, 12/01/24, at around 1230 p.m., the New Hampshire State Police helicopter will be assisting the Durham Police Department with the search for a missing man. The helicopter will be checking shorelines in the area of Great Bay, the Piscataqua River, and the Bellamy River.

Police in Durham have conducted more than a dozen searches for missing University of New Hampshire student Alexis Garcia but have no leads at this point as to his whereabouts.

On Thursday, they released more photographs provided by Garcia’s family. Garcia has been missing since Nov. 21. Police said they do not believe foul play was involved in his disappearance.

Based on the investigation by the Durham Police Department, there is no suspicion of foul play related to this case and the investigation has been closed, police said

The body of a University of New Hampshire student who had been missing for six months has been found, according to authorities.

The Durham Police Department said that shortly before 3:30 p.m. Friday, officers responded to Newington after the Newington Police Department reported that a person found a body near the shoreline of Little Bay. The area where the body was found is approximately 3 miles from the Maine state line

Garcia’s body was positively identified by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner on May 25th, 2025
